Course Description

  • The course is 8 hours in length and is delivered by a Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) certified instructor.
  • A certification is issued at the end of the course provided the student meets requirements of the class. This certification is valid for one year.
  • Course hours can be set up as it best works between the organization(s) and the instructor availability and can be delivered in 4-hour blocks over two days as an alternative to one 8-hour day.
  • This course may be conducted at your location or at any of the Minnesota State college campuses.
  • This course meets the requirements set forth by the MN State Legislature requiring direct care givers to receive 8-hours of initial Dementia training.
  • This course is approved by the Alzheimer’s Organization (alz.org).

Requirements

  • Prerequisites: None
  • Books and training materials will be provided for all students, which they may keep.
  • Full attendance, class participation and successful completion of the post-test are necessary for certification.
  • Students will be given a workbook to write in during the course. A classroom that can accommodate this set-up is preferred.

Payment

  • Advanced Minnesota will send a contract to each organization prior to training. An invoice will be sent within 30 days of the first day of training for the 50% balance.
  • Open enrollment classes will have minimum enrollment requirements and require payment at the time of registration.
